Fricano’s Pizza – Comstock Park, MI Review

27 Apr

This has been a long time coming – if you’ve never tried pizza from Fricano’s and you live in the Grand Rapids, MI area, do yourself a flavor and check out this amazingly unique pizza place!
We visited recently, and though we’d been to this location before and had a great experience,  we were particularly pleased with the outstanding service we received on this visit.  It’s nice to go to a restaurant where the owner and employees obviously love what they do.  We were immediately greeted by a very enthusiast Jackie and I knew right then we were in for an adventure in dining!
This restaurant resides where Mr. Fables used to be located up on Alpine near 7 Mile Road.  The vibe is definitely cool – it’s light and airy, and as the sun set, it took on a cozier, more intimate ambiance.  It’s got an Italian feel to it, but not overwhelmingly so.
The pizza that Fricano’s serves is definitely unique – it’s got a very thin crust, with fresh toppings that scream “authentic.”  We ordered the EBA, aka Everything But Anchovies, and our dining guests (my brother and sister-in-law) ordered the Prima Vera.  Both pies came out within just a few minutes and were piping hot and oh so delicious.
Our server, Karen, made sure we had everything we needed (they have wine and beer and a full bar service) to drink, and Jackie came by to suggest a couple of menu items for our next visit. Doug, the owner, also made an appearance to make sure our dining experience was satisfactory….yes, it was, Doug – and we’ll be back soon!
